My Top 5 Guests After the Salt Lake Comic Con Press Conference

Yesterday, Salt Lake Comic Con held their press conference for their fifth annual Comic Con event. As they do with all of their press conferences, for both SLCC and FanX, they announced their first round of guests. It seems like they are really putting together their best show yet, and with the announcements yesterday, they have a good start. Below is a list of my top five guests announced so far.

My Top 5 Salt Lake Comic Con Guests So Far

From movies to TV to Books to Comics, so far Salt Lake Comic Con has a little bit of everything. With dozens of more guests across every genre yet to be announced, I am sure the best may yet be to come, but I am excited about a few that have been announced so far. So, let’s start the count down.

#5-Michael Rooker

Michael Rooker- Yondu Guardians of the Galaxy

Michael Rooker returns to SLCC September 2017

There are a few guests that have been announced who have come to the convention here before. These include Christopher Lloyd, Michael Rosenbaum, John Barrowman, and Michael Rooker. Of all of them, Michael Rooker is the one I am most excited about. I really enjoyed his panel last year, and I am looking forward to what he has to say about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and that ending.

#4-Wil Wheaton

Wil Wheaton at Wesley Crusher

Wil Wheaton makes his first appearance at SLCC in September 2017

Wil Wheaton is a god among nerds. He is everyone’s favorite acting ensign from Star Trek, and for that reason alone, I am excited he is coming. On top of that, I didn’t think this would ever happen after the FanX 2014 debacle, when Salt Lake fans bombarded him with tweets and messages when he said he couldn’t join the rest of the TNG cast here for FanX. It’s cool that they got it all worked out.

#3-Patrick Rothfuss

Kingkiller Chronicle covers

Books 1 and 2 of The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss, appearing for the first time at SLCC in September 2017

If you read Fantasy books, chances are you have heard of Patrick Rothfuss. He is one of the biggest names in the industry right now. His Kingkiller Chronicles series is incredible in a lot of ways. The world he has built is amazingly detailed and intricate. I am excited to go to his panel and hear him talk about his craft.

#2-Brandon Sanderson

Bookcovers for Brandon Sanderson Books

Boos 1 and 2 of the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson. Brandon Sanderson returns to SLCC in September 2017

Brandon Sanderson is another name you might know well if you read Fantasy novels. He is my personal favorite. I was unable to get my books signed last time he came, so I am hoping it will work out this time. Either way, i am excited to attend the panels he will be on.

#1-Catherine Tate

Catherine Tate as Donna Noble

Catherine Tate will be appearing for the first time at SLCC in September 2017

In my opinion, Donna Noble was the best Doctor Who companion. There was just something special about the chemistry between her and David Tennant. Her season in the TARDIS is one of my favorites, and her departure was one of the most tragic. Plus, Catherine Tate is hilarious. I cannot wait to attend her panel. I may even be tempted to do a photo with her.
