Preparing to Say Good-bye to Number 12

The rumors have been swirling ever since Moffat announced that he would be leaving Doctor Who at the end of this upcoming g series. It started with the BBC supposedly wanting to usher in new show runner, Chris Chibnall’s era with a brand new Doctor. Of course, the theory was that they wanted a younger, more heart throbby Doctor to win back some of the fans they had lost with Capaldi.

I don’t know how much of that is true, but just a couple of weeks ago, Capaldi confirmed that this upcoming series would be his last as everyone’s favorite Time Lord. What direction the BBC decides to go in from here, or what Chris Chibnall is looking for in his Doctor remains to be seen. I’m not sure I even want to speculate. I know that the minute one Doctor announces he is leaving, all anyone can talk about is who the next Doctor will be. Maybe he will be a she, or maybe a minority or maybe he’ll be young or who really knows. I’m not ready to talk about any of that because I’m not ready to talk about the next Doctor. I still really like the one we’ve got.

I’m not ready to say good-bye to Capaldi’s Doctor. Not yet. I know it’s coming and I’m sure I’ll have some opinion on whoever replaces him. Right now, though, more than anything, I am looking forward to his last series as the Doctor. I am looking forward to Moffat’s last series as show runner. I am hoping there will be some loose ends that will be tied up. Like, will the Doctor  find Gallifrey again?

The thing, for me, is that we have a lot of story left to be told with this Doctor, and I am looking forward to that. I am looking forward to meeting Bill. I am looking forward to the last adventures of Capaldi’s Doctor, who has become one of my favorites, if not my favorite. He took some time to grow on me, but now I love him. He has really grown into his role. And then there is his eyebrows. I am going to miss them most of all.

Series ten premiers two months from today, on April 15, 2017. Until then enjoy o e of my favorite clips from Capaldi’s Doctor:
